Friday Hikes in the Greenbelt @ South Seattle College

Every Friday while classes are in session, meet at the tennis courts at the south end of the campus for a 30 minute guided hike. The goal of the hike is to build more awareness of the greenbelt trails and to promote the health and well-being of our community and the forest.

HPIC Movie Night @ Highland Park Improvement Club

The third Friday of every month, we open up as your local FREE movie theater! We pull down our big screen and show a double feature.  Volunteers will be selling popcorn, candy, and other movie fare.  Bring blankets and pillows or sit on our chairs.  This is an all ages event.  Bring your friends, family, and neighbors!

Doors open at 6:00PM.  Children’s short at 6:15PM.  Feature movie at 7:00PM.

Plant for the Planet Meeting @ Puget Ridge Cohousing Common House

Join Plant for the Planet, a youth-led climate organization, for our monthly West Seattle meetings. Every 3rd Friday we’ll meet at 7 PM at the Puget Ridge Co-housing Common House. Free Auto Leaks Workshop @ South Seattle College

Every year, oil and other automotive fluids find their way to Puget Sound and other waterways, hurting wildlife and habitat. Seattle Public Utilities’ Automotive Maintenance Program wants to help you make sound choices.

Don’t Drip and Drive offers free auto leaks workshops to help you learn about your car and make sound choices for Puget Sound!

• Workshops are taught by certified automotive instructors from local, participating technical schools.
• Workshops are open to EVERYONE in the Puget Sound region.
• Workshops include a 2 hour class about basic automotive systems, maintenance and information about the impacts of leaks.
• Each class participant has the option to stay up to 2 hours later to have their vehicle inspected by the class instructor.

Spanish Conversation Group @ Duwamish Cohousing Common House

Anyone interested in practicing their Spanish?  Any native Spanish speakers who’d like an opportunity to chat in Spanish and meet neighbors?  Come ready to practice, meet new neighbors, and have fun!
This is a drop-in group for all levels. No charge, no formal class. Just  an opportunity to practice conversational Spanish and meet some neighbors. Kids welcome with a parent.
Join us every Saturday from 11am to noon at Duwamish Cohousing – Common House 6000 17th SW (park on the street, not the parking lot, and look for the large main building)

West Seattle Tool Library @ Youngstown Cultural Art Center

The West Seattle Tool Library is open at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center space (located in the back of the building under the breezeway). Provides free, community access to a wide variety of tools, training, and sustainable resources. Utilizing a diverse collection of over 1,500 tools, our membership has successfully grown entire community orchards, built mini-greenhouses, and even just mowed their own lawns.  From basic tasks to brilliant innovations, the projects accomplished by the West Seattle Tool Library’s 780+ members have made all the tools in the collection proud to be working again.

South Seattle Fiber Arts Club @ Highland Park Improvement Club

Join your fellow South Seattleites to meet and work on your preferred fiber hobby and socialize. All knitters, crocheters, quilters, embroiderers, weavers, spinners, etc. welcome. People of all backgrounds and skill levels are also welcome to attend. Anyone interested in learning to knit can come down and will be provided basic instruction. Come down and meet your neighbors and fellow fiber enthusiasts!. We trade tips, supplies and snacks! Everyone is welcome regardless of skill level. Children are welcome. Free and open to the public. 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 11 am – 1 pm at HPIC.
